The asphalt walkways had been patched on numerous occasions with more rock asphalt, but there was perpetrating damp/ water ingress in around 30 flats, plus leaks into shops below. I had initially spoken to asphalting companies who could all over a rip up and relay, or another round of patching but I wondered if 4o years on there were more alternatives.
Having spoken to Croft, they were able to offer alternatives straightway, but what really impressed me was the comparison matrix they provided which looked at the pros and cons of each solution, rated them out of 10 across 9 different categories including: cost, time, longevity, logistics, environmental, health and safety, maintenance, impact on building users, aesthetics’, other risks. These ratings where then tabulated with a weighting given to health and safety to arrive at a value rating. The conclusion was surprising, but leaving the old failed asphalt in place and overlaying it with a proprietary system was defiantly the right way to go. Dealing with Croft Building Solutions was like a breath of fresh air, they really wanted to give me the best solution for my needs, and not just sell me a service which suited them. A really big thumbs up!
Croft says: We are passionate about using our skill, knowledge and experience to benefit our clients. The cold liquid membrane Kemperol is a world leader in these systems, and being that we are approved installers and could offer a 20 year guarantee knowing that it would most probably last twice that. In this instant not only did the Kemperol offer a far better value, its initial costs were also slightly cheaper than the alternatives, once we had assured our client about the product it was a real win-win solution.
